And the WINNER IS!

Ending Wednesday......uh missed that date

I guess we didn't say which Wednesday. As of now Rush is leading by 1 vote! This will wrap up tonight (9/26) at 09:00 PM CST. No matter what, so spam your friends, stuff the ballot box, and vote under all your multiple personalities because tonight Bruce Dickinson or Rush will stand alone forever as THE GREATEST OF THE GREATEST!

Future generations will look back on this battle and re-tell it with great fanfare and ceremony. Holidays will be celebrated noting the beginning and end and cults will form worshiping the winner....wait that's already happened.

TONIGHT PEOPLE!

The Final Final

This is it. The very last championship round. One last Rush vs Iron Maiden battle this time to the death....well that's overdoing it...maybe not death but a watery eye or stubbed toe.

Since this site will be fading into the sunset we will let this championship round go for until Wednesday to give fans a couple extra days to get the word out and stuff the ballot box.

Family against family

The two semi-finals pit fans against themselves. If you're an Iron Maiden fan do you vote for a founding member who has played on every album and every tour or do you vote for the voice of some of the best heavy metal songs of all time. If you're a Rush fan do you vote for one of the best bassists and frontman of your favorite band or do you vote for the band a whole as a group entertainers.

We predict Bruce and Rush to meet in the finals although Bruce vs Geddy would probably be a lot of fun to see.

Round 2 is up

Robin Williams and The Simpson's TV show stand out like sore thumbs in what should be the biggest and weirdest RUSH vs Iron Maiden contest yet. The Simpson's had a very strong showing beating out Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain but we don't see that happening against Bruce Dickinson. On the Rush half of the tournament we so Robin Williams getting trounced against Rush as a "Live Act".

Based on first round voting Vegas is predicting at Powerslave (Greatest Album Cover) against Rush (Greatest Live Act) in the finals.

Voting will be short and will end Wednesday evening so get the word out!

To quote Snagglepuss...

Exit Stage Left - is our winner for Greatest Live album of all time! Rush continues their impressive winning streak and gains another entry in the grand finale.

The Greatest of the Greatest will now be decided in one big mashup. Nicko McBrain vs The Simpsons and 2112 vs Batman and a whole lot of others that make absolutely no sense but should be fun. We did have an odd number of entries so we're giving Robin Williams a bye simply because we forgot about him and uncovered that tournament after the bracket was set.

The bracket follows (roughly) the chronological order of the tournaments. You can see how earlier in the year Iron Maiden dominated every musical entry and lead with number of entries - 4. If you're wondering Rush has three entries, which seems fitting.

The voting time frames will stay the same - Mon, Wed, Fri ending roughly 8:00 PM

CST.

Clash of the Titans

Once again we are looking at a Rush vs Iron Maiden finals. One thing we've learned running this site is that the two most loyal fans around are Rush and Maiden fans.

You know the rules - keep your hands up at all times and listen to my commands, no hitting below the belts and lets have a clean match!

Voting ends Friday and immediately after be the start of the Greatest of the Greatest of All Time Mash Up meaning whoever wins will turn right back around and be included in the grand finale of this site.

Fatal Four

We're down the last four standing and it is only the big boys left. Rush vs Led Zeppelin in a battle of musicianship and on Iron Maiden vs Black Sabbath in a battle of metal pioneers. Someone pointed out that there are no "American" entries...but we disagree - Rush will be representing all the Americas. Someone also pointed out that Rush is the only band with only one word in the name of their band....some people just have too much time.

As the pattern in past contests we are looking for Rush and Iron Maiden to advance and duke it out in the finals but don't take a night off and think others will vote for you.

This is about the time we start asking for entry's for new tournament but the next tournament is going to be our big grand finale. We are going to mash up every past winner into one big tournament. So you may see Batman vs Dave Murray and Bruce Dickinson vs The Simpsons. The winner of that tournament will be simply The Greatest of All Time.....of everything.

Elite Eight

56 albums are gone leaving only the 8. The tournament is dominated by bands whose early albums were release in the 70's. Iron Maiden is the youngest of the bands with their Live After Death Album still in the running.

Led Zeppelin is having a stronger showing than usual. For some reason Led Zeppelin has never fared well in any of the music tournaments we've had. Queen has never won a tournament but always fares pretty well so we're picking "Live Magic" to move past Zeppelin.

Voting ends Monday night.

3rd Round

Iron Maiden is back! Iron Maiden fans once again have turned out in big numbers in support for their band. Iron Maiden has easily beaten their competition the only thing seemingly standing in their way is themselves. KISS and Led Zeppelin still have more than one entry, like Iron Maiden, but their vote totals have been much lower so we don't think they will be much competition.

Right now we're predicting Deep Purple may pose the the biggest threat...but you never know.

Voting ends Friday.

2nd round is up

It is interesting to see live albums by the same band and one will dominate over another. Since we don't have exit polling to find out why, for example, Rush's Snakes and Arrows destroyed Rush in Rio. We consulted renowned sociologist Dr. Art Vandelay and he gave the following statement.
"People is this tournament are voting what they relate too and what they hold dear to their heart. Rush is Rio maybe sonically a better live album but if the voters are primarily from North America they will vote for Snakes and Arrows because that happened in North America. In the case of Iron Maiden's Live After Death that album was released at the height of the success therefore people view it fondly."

There you have it. Whether that is true we will never know.

This round ends Wednesday! Vote early and often!
